Residential Care Specialist for Special Needs Children (Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace/Bothell)

Smithwright Services is a Residential Care Agency and has been in business for 25 years caring for developmentally disabled adults as well as a Children's Program for children with autism and other high care needs. Our Children's Program was newly established in 2006 so you will be an exciting part of its success! Come join this exciting and worthwhile branch of our services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide individual and group care that addresses the needs of the residents within the context of program, home and community, and that addresses individual treatment goals.
  • Provide ongoing care that supports the health and well-being of the residents.
  • Plan and outline daily curriculum, including age-appropriate recreational activities, which will reflect all the needs of the residents.
  • Provide individual instruction and/or independent living skills for residents at all ability levels. Also provide constant enthusiasm and creativity in activities, and utilize effective management strategies.
  • Focus on teaching residents to meet their individual needs, and work with child/parents to encourage educational/vocational awareness.
  • Collaborate with team members in developing appropriate interventions.
  • Facilitate meal and menu planning and meal preparation as appropriate.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents, families, co-workers, and community resources.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Role model an adult who makes mature and responsible decisions regarding his/her emotions and behavior.
  • Be aware of residents' safety at all times.
  • Be responsible for completing monthly reports.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year(s) experience with children of high needs, preferred
  • CPR/First Aid
  • TB Test (this can be taken if you are offered the position, company pays)
  • English proficiency - verbal and written a must

We currently have immediate openings for part time and full time positions, starting at $12.00 per hour. Full time positions will be eligible for all company benefits!
